Module 1
Key Decisions
Here's where it pays to learn from someone who's gone before you. I know exactly where you need to start so you don't get hung up and waste time going in the wrong direction. In Module 1, you'll make the key decisions that will clarify exactly where you're going with your farm education programs, and for who.
We'll set you up for success by getting some big decisions out of the way so all your future work is targeted and consistently moving you forward.
Module 1 Highlights:
- You'll learn the client types you can work with as a farm educator and which are the most impactful, reliable, and profitable, and decide who your ideal clients are.
- Map out what your audience wants, what you want to teach, and where you're going to teach it so you can know right off the bat what you're working to create instead of letting the bigness of it all intimidate you or drain your motivation.
- The art and science of naming your business and your programs and creating a brand so people can find you easily and know exactly what they're getting.
- The overall roadmap for building your farm education business, laid out in step-by-step tasks with a recommended order of completion, ready for you to start implementing.
Module 2
Making Your Business Official
This module is going to take you through the concrete steps of making your exciting new farm programs official in the eyes of the government and your clients. I've narrowed down the information you need to pay attention to, helping you avoid getting lost down the rabbit holes of over-information.
We'll cover the steps to registering your business, how to find insurance to protect you and your clients, navigating licensing and regulations, and setting up your business bank accounts so you can accept those first clients' payments. If you do the work in this module, you'll come out of it with an actual business, legally ready, protected, and confident that you've laid the groundwork for everything you're going to create.
Module Highlights:
- Why every farm educator needs to register as a business, and how to do it; choosing your business structure, registering with tax agencies, and why you need an employer identification number even if you don't ever plan to have employees.
- You'll narrow down the types and varieties of insurance policies you'll want and need to have, what your insurers need to know about your farm education business, and the easiest way to manage all your policies.
- We'll nail down what your unique farm business needs to do to comply with health and safety regulations so your clients can count on you to follow the rules as a professional service they can trust.
- The banking decisions you'll want to make upfront to set your business up to work easily for your clients, for your bookkeeping, and for your tax preparer.
Module 3
Outlining Your Curriculum
You're creating education programs you'll be able to sell over and over again, creating consistency for your clients, and creating revenue for you. It deserves the attention and detail we're going to give it.
I've used the same process to write curriculum for over 28 years. I've tweaked it and refined it, and now I'm sharing it with you.
In this module, you'll outline your programs from start to finish, including your pre-program contact, your materials, checklists, and follow-up. We'll get specific with the examples you'll include, the stories you'll tell, the visual aids you'll use, plus extras that will wow your clients, getting them to reserve again and again.
Module Highlights:
- Identify what you want to teach and why. The answers will become the personal introductions to your programs.
- Clarify the steps to get your audience from here to there. We'll get down in the nitty gritty of how to take your audience on a journey that's clear, engaging, and meets both your objectives.
- Write and refine your program content by diving deeper into the content, pulling out individual stories, and adding specific details that will intrigue and captivate your audience.
- Visualize your visual aids. In farm education, this is where the magic happens. You can have all the information in the world, but if there's nothing to look at, you risk losing your audience. I'm not going to let that happen to you!
- Enhance your programs through communication and support documents. A confused client never comes back. We'll be planning for the opposite effect - where your clients feel so supported, they can't imagine going anywhere else.
Module 4
Crafting Your Program Price List
In this module, we're going to condense all the work you did in the last module into a format that you can easily share with potential clients to sell your programs.
In pricing your programs, your challenge isn't in getting your price to fit into your clients' range - it's in getting them to see you as important and relevant so they eagerly want to pay what you're asking. I'll share with you my exact strategy for turning an interested inquiry into a confirmed reservation through the use of a program price list - and tell you why you will NOT be listing your prices online.
Module Highlights:
- You'll nail down your pricing and eliminate any second-guessing by knowing exactly what goes into a program and what you need to come out of it.
- Map out what your clients need to know about each program to make sure the descriptions talk directly to them, get them excited, and answer their objections so they feel confident that you're working to make things easy for them.
- How and when to share your program prices and the follow-up techniques that will grow your business year over year.
Module 5
Getting Yourself Out There
Whether we like it or not, marketing IS the success of your business. But it doesn't need to feel salesy or high-pressure. In this module, I'm going to replace your stress around marketing with the understanding that marketing is simply creating value and energy around your business, giving people an opportunity to invest in their experience through you. Selling is the first step in serving your clients.
This module goes deep with clear actionable steps, taking you through setting up a website, creating a social media presence, developing and nurturing an email list, crafting your customer service, and using both your personal story and professionalism as a way to attract an audience and turn them into raving clients.
Module Highlights:
- You'll understand why you need a website and what it should and shouldn't be, and go step by step through buying a domain, designing a website yourself or hiring it out, and knowing exactly what sections you need to write and what to include.
- We'll make peace with social media and plan for the types of posts you can use to get visibility and grow your brand, and to be of true service to your audience, giving them chances to connect to your farm through what you share.
- While social media is sometimes outside your control, what is in your control is your email list. You'll map out how to get people on your list and once you have them, how to nurture those relationships into paying customers and supporters.
- Having the mindset that each new reservation is a potential client for life, you'll identify all the places where your customer service can make you stand out, make your clients' lives easier, and build loyal relationships.
- I'll share the specific strategy I used to get my very first clients by using personal marketing and follow up, laying out an exact path for you to follow to start generating income.
Module 6
Managing the Checks and Balances
If it feels like a lot to run your own business, you're not wrong. It is a lot. And that's why in this module, we're going to set up your systems so that you're starting out on the right foot, making your daily work, interactions with your clients, information systems, infrastructure, and budgeting as straightforward, intuitive, and consistent as possible.
The systems we'll create in this module will save you countless time and energy, will make you look professionally put together for your clients, and will give you the peace of mind that everything is being taken care of.
Module Highlights:
- You'll adopt a system that will let you see where your money is coming in and where it's going out, making it feel easy to know where you are financially in your business at any given time, and will give you a predictable path to guide your clients through their financial journey with you through clear invoicing.
- How to take care of your clients' and potential clients' information in your own internal systems, making it easy it is for you to recover their details and see the need for follow up so you don't miss opportunities.
- You'll map out common sequences of communication between you and your clients so you and they always know the next steps, using templates so you don't have to write the same thing a thousand times, and making things easier for you and crystal clear for them.
- There is an art and science to organizing your data, from your calendar and appointments, to files and folders, to the thousands of photos you'll be collecting as you go, so we'll work to set up the structures of your systems so that everything has its place and is easy to be found again.
- Farm education is nothing if not visual, but all those supplies and equipment need managed. You'll make a plan for how to store, clean, and maintain your equipment and spaces so everything is ready when you need it.
- Even if you have no intention of hiring a staff, you'll always need to find people to help you with those parts of your business that you don't know how to do - or don't want to do, so we'll talk through how to prioritize hiring, and what to look for in a team.

Plus These Special Bonuses...
Bonus 1
Working with Animals
This bonus module is gold for anyone who is thinking about using farm animals in their education programs. There's special considerations when using animals in educational environments. I'll guide you through them all.
We'll look at your animal programs from many different angles, mapping out housing, which breeds to consider, managing animal health and wellbeing, record keeping, fostering trusting relationships, and how to safely use animals in public programs.
The way you work with animals is what separates the work of a farm educator from someone else's work running a "petting zoo." The conscientiousness in which you manage your animals will be a major selling point and point of connection for your clients.
Module Highlights:
- Map out housing for your animals during and outside of programs, and plan your short and long term vision for animals on your farm.
- The most important things to keep in mind as you select the animal breeds that will do best on your farm and in your unique programs.
- Techniques for forming trusting relationships with your animals that are obvious and inspiring to your audience.
- A strategy for day-to-day care, medical and healthcare, breeding, management, and record keeping.
- My tips and tricks for sharing animals in public programs based on my 16 years doing on-farm education and my 13 years as a mobile-farm-educator entrepreneur.
Bonus 2
Monthly Q & A Support for 6 Months
We know that you'll have lots of questions as you develop your farm education programs that can only be answered by someone who's been in the trenches as both a farm educator and business owner.
Once a month, you'll get your burning questions answered so you can move forward with clarity and confidence.
What You’ll Get:
- Submit your questions to get unstuck in a matter in minutes instead of days or weeks if you were to go it alone.
- A watch-anytime recording of Christa answering yours and others questions each month, so you can learn from the challenges that others are having.
- A public facebook group of your peers and others working in farm education so you can turn isolation into inspiration and constantly refill your motivation tank by connecting with other farm educators.
Bonus 3
Unique Access and Input as a Beta Student

The Farm Educator's Roadmap is PERFECT for you if…
- You have been thinking about offering farm programs, are just getting started, and want to do it right. You know that it's always easier to build something with a blueprint, than to need to figure out what piece goes where and risk setting up a faulty foundation. You want to set yourself up for success with every step you take and with a complete roadmap to show the way.
- You have tried starting a farm education program but are confused and overwhelmed, and could use an experienced guide to help. You know that the barriers to success are high, but that this barrier to success also serves as your biggest competitive advantage against those without a complete, step-by-step implementation plan.
- You are not afraid of putting in the work in order to kick-start your dream of working with freedom, purpose, and meaning. The thought of a career lived close to the land lights you up and you can't wait to roll up your sleeves and get started.
- You're already investing time and energy trying to figure out how to start a farm business, or teaching farm education for someone else and want to do it on your own terms. You know that there is no "perfect time", but that wasting time isn't in your plans and you're ready to make a change.
